Join us for the NVP International Summer School 2024 – The Global Arctic, an interdisciplinary summer school for PhD students and Postdocs set in the stunning landscapes of Longyearbyen and Isfjord Radio, Svalbard. Hosted by the Norwegian Scientific Academy for Polar Research (NVP), in partnership with The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS), this summer school is a unique opportunity to delve into the interconnected natural systems of the Arctic, Himalayas, and Antarctic.

Program

The program highlights the global significance of the Arctic, addressing climate change, geopolitical issues, and their impacts on local populations and ecosystems. The 2024 Summer School concludes our 'three-pole' series, focusing on the interplay between these extreme environments and their global implications.

Our curriculum is designed to be highly interdisciplinary, encouraging young scholars to transcend disciplinary boundaries and engage with complex, applied issues. Participants will spend the first four days in Longyearbyen, followed by six days at Isfjord Radio, and conclude with a final night in Longyearbyen, with shared double room accommodations at both locations.

Students

PhD students and Postdocs. Selection criteria include the relevance of current studies, personal motivation, and experience.
