The research of Dr. Westergaard has a strong polar focus and she has been active not only in the Norwegian High Arctic and Greenland but also in the analysis of biodiversity throughout the Arctic. She is considered amongst the foremost researchers in Arctic biodiversity, for example representing Norway on the CAFF flora working group and with an excellent publication record in high impact factor journals
