Maaike is a social science researcher interested in marine governance and transformations in the Arctic region. She has published about the development and implementation of ecosystem-based management, marine spatial planning, and environmental risk governance of offshore petroleum activity. Maaike also works in interdisciplinary projects focusing on the development and use of weather and sea ice forecasting infrastructures, and their role in a changing Arctic. Her work is particularly driven by the desire to understand the changing relations between science, politics and industry in transforming natural and institutional environments.
